Paint Racks/Plating Racks

Steel, Stainless Steel, Custom Fabricated Paint Racks/Plating Racks

Paint Racks:

Paint is commonly referred to as wet spray. Using this method of application, wet spray is applied electrostaticly and is by far the most frequently used. Paint racks are used for holding parts made of metals or plastics in a specific orientation. A well designed rack will address four areas: part density, proper grounding, rack maintenance, and flexibility. These racks are generally constructed of cold drawn, stainless, or mild steel at times.

Baskets:

Apex Rack and Coating Co. can fabricate various types of baskets for any purpose. Almost any type of steel whether it be stainless or mild steel, aluminum, or titanium can be used to accomplish this. They may also be constructed using perforated, expanded, or flattened expanded steel. Baskets may be coated or uncoated and any size you may require.

Etch Racks:

Etch racks are used to remove any objectionable contaminants from metallic surfaces. This type of rack can be constructed of stainless steel or titanium. Although more expensive, titanium will generally last longer than stainless steel. Apex can build etching racks to hold almost any part in any orientation. Contact us with your specific racking needs.

Powder Coat Racks:

Powder coating is a dry powder that is typically applied electrostaticly. Generally, powder coating produces a thicker and harder coat than that of liquid coatings. Apex can fabricate powder-coating racks to hold a part in almost any desired orientation and within any window. We commonly construct these types of rack frames out of cold drawn steel and the clips are typically constructed using stainless steel or simple cold drawn steel hooks or pins. These racks are not coated. We can fabricate the rack to contain any required masking which will reduce rack load and unload times. Contact us with your specific needs and see how we can assist you with your racking and masking requirements.

Plating Racks:

Plating rack is a general term used to describe a rack that holds parts while they are submerged in a chemical solution that contains an ionic form of metal that produces a film of non-ionic metal that adheres to the part when that metal in its ionic form is supplied with electrons to form the non-ionic coating on the part’s substrate. We fabricate racks for any plating line and any type of plating. We have built racks for zinc, gold, silver, nickel, chrome, various alloys, rhodium, and tin plating. We have fabricated racks for plating interior home fixtures, hardware, door handles, bathroom and kitchen hardware, lighting, shelving, automotive bumper, and automotive interior/exterior parts, motorcycle parts, shopping carts, and a vast variety of other large parts. Generally, these racks are constructed of copper, stainless steel, titanium, and at times platinum. Our staff has years of experience in this field and can work with you to solve your plating needs and problems. Contact us with your plating needs and see how we can assist you with your plating process and racking needs.

Hooks:

Apex can fabricate endless types of hooks to suit your specific needs. Various materials can be used and the hook can be coated or uncoated. These hooks can be used for part protection or for “utility” purposes. In this instance, it is a cost effective means of applying a finish to a part without the expense of building a part specific rack that is generally used in high volume conveyance systems. We can help with all of your miscellaneous hook needs.

Anodizing Racks:

The purpose of anodizing is to form a layer of aluminum oxide that will protect the surface beneath it by submersing the part in an electrolyte bath and passing an electrical current through the part. Anodizing can be applied in various colors and mil. thickness. We generally construct anodizing racks from aluminum. The rack is then coated and the contacts are cleaned of their coating allowing electrical current to travel through the part.

Electro-Coating Racks:

Also called E-coat, electro-disposition, or even electrophoretic. This coating has provided superior performance on a vast array of metal objects. Typically, tooling is made out of stainless, cold drawn, or mild steels.

Additional Services:

Upon request, Apex can provide check fixtures / gauges or extra clips for any racks that we fabricate. We also have the capabilities to clean, repair, or modify any of the toolings we fabricate, as well as any tooling purchased elsewhere.
